State Mandated Testing
Colorado students participate in state assessments each year to measure academic progress and ensure schools are meeting state standards.
What to Expect
CMAS (Colorado Measures of Academic Success) & CoAlt
CMAS and CoAlt are assessments mandated by the Colorado Department of Education. We give CMAS to our 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th graders. All 3rd-6th students take the Math and English Language Arts assessments. Additionally, 5th grade takes a science assessment.
Tentative Dates
- CMAS English Language Arts and Math: April 5-9, 2027
- CMAS Science (5th Grade Only): April 12-15, 2027
- CoAlt (Alternative Assessment): April 5-April 23, 2027
Our Approach
We aim to create a calm, supportive testing environment. State assessments are one measure of learning and are considered alongside classroom work and overall student growth.
Accommodations
Students who qualify for the paper-based assessment must have an active IEP/504 plan and a documented disability that directly impacts their access to computerized technology and therefore prevents their access to the digital assessment (e.g., epilepsy, other seizure disorder, neurological disorder that prevents access to computerized technology, etc.) HB 25-1278

Family Choice
Colorado law allows parents/guardians to excuse their student from state assessments.
We encourage families to review available information and reach out with any questions.
